Perspectives
Perspectives enable greater visibility over how and where your objects are used, giving you a way to explore data that's as natural as the way you think about it.
With perspectives, you can transform your dashboards from static pages of charts into portals to deeper insights.
Accessing perspectives
To access the perspective view, simply drill down into an object. SquaredUp then searches across your organization for all of the dashboards using that object as a dashboard variable and surfaces them into the perspective view - filtered by the object you selected.
Each of the dashboards returned by the perspective engine are displayed as a tab on the page, allowing you to quickly switch between contexts and easily understand the data behind the object.
Because collections are internally limited to 500 objects, when drilling down to a node in a collection that has >500 objects, not all perspectives are shown.

Use case examples
Perspectives are key when it comes to preventing dashboard sprawl. Instead of having to create brand new dashboards to gain insight into some data, you're instead able to drilldown into objects and use their perspectives as the context for your analysis.
The following scenarios give examples of how this can be leveraged:
Scenario 1: System admins
If you need to diagnose an issue with a VM, you only need to drilldown to that VM from your dashboard to view everything you need to know about that object. From the perspective page, you can view cluster metrics, SAN availability, hypervisor stats, memory spikes, recent alerts, performance trends all in one click.
You don't have to context switch between multiple tools or create new any new dashboards or tiles as the perspectives engine surfaces the data for you.
Scenario 2: Data analysts
If you need to understand the latest churn numbers in the context of product usage, normally you’d have to sift through reports and piece this together manually.
Instead, using perspectives you simply drill down into your objects from your customer data dashboard to surface the necessary contextual insights.
From the perspective view you can see not just churn, but also product engagement trends, support interactions, and subscription history - all tied together in real time.
