Data Explorer

The Data Explorer page allows you to allows you to experiment with all your data streams and objects in one place, without the need to create or edit a dashboard. This page functions identically to the data tile editor, allowing you to create collections, visualizations and perform shaping.

Once you’re done, you also have the option to save your visualized tiles to a new or existing dashboard.

Access the Data Explorer page via the following methods:

  • Select Data from the left-hand menu in SquaredUp. Best used when you want to explore global data in general.
  • Click Explore data next to a data stream when when viewing a data source. The Data stream on the Data Explorer page is automatically populated.
  • Explore any tile by clicking More options next to a tile on a dashboard and select Explore data. The Data Explorer page is populated with that tile's configuration.

Explore any tile

A great feature of the Data Explorer is the ability to deep dive into any tile, without the need to alter it. When you access the Data Explorer page from the More options menu of a tile, it launches with that tile's configuration and data. You can then do the following, without affecting the original tile, and even save the changes to a dashboard:

  • Freely explore the data
  • View data from different timeframes
  • Adjust filtering or shaping as needed

Explore global data

By default, the Current workspace option is selected from the toggle at the top-left of the page, which limits the available data sources and objects to those in the workspace you are currently in.

Toggling this option to All workspace gives you access to all the data sources and objects that are available to you across the application.

Save to dashboard

Visualizations you create in the Data Explorer can easily be saved as a new tile by doing the following:

  1. Click the Save to dashboard button at the top-right of the page to open the Save to dashboard window.
  2. Destination workspace:
    Specify the workspace where the dashboard you want to save the tile to is located.
  3. Destination dashboard:
    Specify the dashboard where you want to save the tile.
  4. Click Save.

  • Completely self-service: There's no need for back and forth with the workspace owner as you can easily explore data from any tile and then save it to your personal dashboard.
