Dashboards

Dashboards are composed of tiles which visualize your data, display images or text, and embed content from other dashboards or web pages.

Dashboards are the primary components of your workspaces.

And SquaredUp dashboards aren't just a pretty face. They sit on top of powerful technology, forming part of a structured map with the power to share their data and signals with other dashboards around them (which enables features such as status roll-ups).

The data on your dashboards refreshes once a minute and can be manually refreshed by clicking Force refresh

.

Creating new dashboards

  1. Navigate to the workspace where you want the dashboard. Or create a new workspace by clicking + Add workspace from the dropdown next to the current workspace name on the left-hand menu.

  2. Click the + next to Dashboards on the left-hand menu to create a new dashboard.

    A new dashboard opens immediately, ready for you to add tiles to.
  3. Rename the dashboard by overwriting the New Dashboard This is the name shown in the left-hand menu and on any shared links, so make it something your team will recognize.

Editing dashboards

  • To edit a dashboard click the Edit
    at the top of the screen.
  • Then to edit a tile click the Edit
    button at the top of a tile.
  • You can also Clone, copy and Delete tiles, see tile setting.
  • Click Undo
    or Redo
    to step back or forward through changes made during the current editing session. History clears when you leave edit mode.

Configuring tiles

Tiles are the building blocks of a dashboard, each one a self-contained visualization, image, note, or embedded page. Reach for a Data tile whenever you're visualizing data from a source, and use the others to add supporting context around it.

There are several types of tile that you can configure:

  • Data: Visualize data on your dashboard, see Data tiles
  • Image: Add an image to your dashboard, see Image tiles
  • Text: Add text to your dashboard, see Text tiles
  • Embed: Display other web pages, such as dashboards from other tools or internal portals, see Embed tiles.

SquaredUp comes with some sample dashboards and sample data to allow you to see the visualizations available. You can edit these dashboards and tiles, as you can with the dashboards installed with any data source.

Use the settings on the page to configure various options for your dashboards and their tiles, such as the dashboard timeframe. See Dashboard settings.

Sharing

Link sharing allows you to give users that don't have a SquaredUp user license view-only access to dashboards.

To share a dashboard, click the Share

button a the top of the dashboard page to open the Share window, where you can configure user access to the dashboard and copy a shared dashboard link.

Workspace users

This feature is available with a Pro or Enterprise plan

The Workspace users section of the Share window lets workspace admins control which users can access the dashboard's workspace and their permission level, by clicking Manage workspace access to open the Manage workspace access window.

From here, you can specify users and groups in the search box and then select their workspace permission level from the dropdown.

You can also invite new users to the tenant by specifying their email address and clicking the Add button. An email is then sent to the email address with a link to the dashboard. If the recipient does not already have a SquaredUp account, they're presented with a link to sign up.

Users with viewer permissions to the workspace can copy the sharing link when viewing a dashboard. Use the following settings to configure permission level access and dashboard theme.

Only users with the specified email domains can view. The specified email domains are set by an administrator at the organization level in Settings > Sharing.

Off
Sharing to unlimited users is disabled. This also disables the Copy link button.
Only licensed users can view. This is the default option, and is always available.
