Bullet visualization (SmartViz)

The Bullet visualization shows a value as a horizontal bar against a track, with an optional marker indicating a target. It's a compact alternative to a gauge, and works well when several measures need comparing in a small space.

When to use a bullet

A bullet judges a single measure against a target in a space too small for a gauge. It draws one horizontal bar against a track, with an optional target marker.

Use it where you would otherwise stack several gauges: SLA attainment per service from the SCOM SLA stream, or budget consumed against forecast from Azure Budget.

For a headline number with no target, a Scalar is simpler.

Data mapping

Setting	Description
Value	Required. Select the numeric column determining the length of the bar.
Target	Select a numeric column determining the position of the target marker.
Label	Select the column naming the bar.

Legend & labels

Setting	Description
Show Data Labels	Enable to display the value against the bar.
Label Color	Choose the text color for the label.
Label Font Size (px)	Enter the font size for the label, from `6` to `72`.

Setting	Description
Bar Color	Choose the color for the value bar.
Target Marker Color	Choose the color for the target marker.
Track Height (px)	Enter the height of the bar and its track, from `4` to `120`.
Min Value	Enter the value at the start of the track.
Max Value	Enter the value at the end of the track.
