Data source overview page

The data source overview page shows the status, dashboards, data streams and objects for one data source in your workspace. To open it, click the data source under Data Sources in the left-hand menu.

Status and actions

The top of the page shows how the data source's last object indexing went, with the buttons for managing the data source. Buttons you don't have permission to use aren't shown.

Description
Status
Shows the result of the data source's most recent object indexing:
  • Connected (green): Indexing succeeded.
  • Connected (amber): Indexing completed with warnings.
  • Running (blue): Indexing is in progress.
  • Error (red): Indexing failed.
Click the status to show or hide the indexing details, which open automatically after an error. The details include Help article and Contact support buttons, and an Edit data source button for users who can edit it.
Indexing time
Shows when object indexing last ran and whether it succeeded, such as Last object indexing succeeded 5 minutes ago.
Refresh index
Click to re-index the data source's objects now instead of waiting for the next scheduled run. See Indexing a data source.
Edit
Click to open the Edit data source window. Changes apply to every workspace that uses the data source. See Editing a data source.
Remove
Click to unlink the data source from this workspace. It stays in your organization, but dashboard tiles in this workspace that use it stop working.
Delete
Shown instead of Remove when this is your organization's only workspace and you have permission to delete the data source. Click to permanently delete the data source and all its objects. See Removing a data source.
Add
Shown instead of Remove when the data source isn't linked to this workspace. Click to link it. See Linking a data source to a workspace.

Dashboards

Lists the dashboards installed with the data source. Click a name to open that dashboard. Dashboards inside a folder show the folder path, such as Folder / Dashboard. The section is hidden when the data source has no dashboards.

The same list appears in the left-hand menu when you click the data source's name.

Data streams

Lists the data streams the data source provides. The section only appears for data sources that support data streams.

Column
Description
Name
The data stream's name. Click it to open the data stream in the Data Explorer. Where a data stream has a description, hover the help icon next to its name to read it.
Source Type
The type of object the data stream queries.

Objects

Shows the objects indexed from the data source. The section only appears for data sources that index objects. See Objects for more on how objects work.

Control
Description
Chart
Shows how many objects of each source type the data source has indexed.
Search
Enter text to filter the list of objects.
Name
The object's name, with a dot showing its health state. Click it to drill down into the object.
Source Type
The object's source type, or Unknown if it doesn't have one.
